A true Garagiste style of Mourvèdre which was hand harvested, basket pressed & naturally fermented. Minimal intervention throughout until this Red was bottled but not before we hand waxed, labelled & numbered* each of them.
Only 300 bottles of this wine were made, coming from a single second-fill french oak barrel, exclusively for Lavine & Mackenzie. Supple, juicy, smoky, meaty, everything that a pure Mourvèdre is wanting to showcase. We’re not working with big, oaky tannins from the barrel, merely offering structure from the natural tannins in the grape skin. We have some bottle age to play with, which is where we get more of those succulent flavour profiles coming more into the foreground.
You want this wine with your next steak…
Drinking Style & Food Pairing:
- As it’s a fuller, rounder wine, it can go alongside a full roast or even your favourite cut on the Braai (BBQ)
- A classic game dish with either Pheasant or Venison
- With a cigar. In a wing-backed leather chair. Next to a log fire… on a Thursday
* The main picture here shows the cellar-note label as we are furiously waxing and labelling the rest.
